Titanium has many carbides, the most important of which is TiC. Titanium Carbide powder is a kind of steel gray crystal with metallic luster. The crystal structure belongs to a typical NaCl structure with a lattice constant of a=o.4320 nm. At 20°C, the TiC density is 4.91 g/cm3, the melting point is 3150±10°C, the boiling point is 4300°C, and the Mohs hardness is 9.5. It is the highest hardness among all known carbides, second only to diamond.
