The microwave sintering in ceramic research

Hydroxyapatite is inorganic mineral composition of human bone, and the body has the good biological compatibility, after implantation in the human body can induce the growth of bone tissue around and gradually involved in metabolism, final with human body closely the chemical combination of bone formation, is a good biological ceramic material. But the HAP material mechanics performance is poorer, limiting its load bearing parts of the application in the human body. Therefore, enhance the mechanical properties of HAP material is key topic in research of biological materials. Wu Na using precipitation synthesis of hydroxyapatite powders, such as the R2O Al2O3 – B2O3 glass beads – SiO3 system according to certain proportion and HAP powder mixture, using isostatic pressing forming and microwave firing two forming methods of hydroxyapatite – glass composite powder forming, respectively at 1 150 ℃, 200 ℃, 1 200 ℃ under microwave sintering. Experiments show that the microwave sintering is conducive to rapid densification of samples, using samples of microwave sinteringshrinkage rate obviously than normal sintering process in the same temperature sintering shrinkage of small sample. Microwave sintering is an effective biological ceramic firing method, shrinkage rate, density and SEM observation results show that the isostatic pressing forming and microwave sintering HAP – G ceramic can realize rapid sintering and densification.
